Vauxhall Astra - Vauxhall Astra trouble starting the morning - Safferus

Hello,

I have an issue with my 2010 Astra over the last few days I have had trouble getting it started in the morning. I noticed that temperature goes straight to about 1/3 of the way up before the engine has even started, then when i turn the key it starts but then stutters and dies a few seconds later. After about 5 or 6 goes it will start.

Ive had an error 79 on for a few weeks which i understand is just a service warning and is booked in at the end of next week.

Any one have any ideas what it could be?

I noticed that temperature goes straight to about 1/3 of the way up before the engine has even started,

If the temp sender is acting up and giving a false reading and the same sensor controls the start up mixture as the gauge the car will not be getting the correct mixture.

Recently did some work on one of our cars. I had to disconnect the temp sender for the ECU for access and afterwards I did not reconnect it. Car struggled to start and ran like a bag of s***3. Looked under bonnet and saw wire off, reconnected and all OK.

There is a known issue with the electric thermostat and temp sensor unit.take it to a main dealer.you may be able to get the revised parts fitted free of charge

ill 2nd that, electronic thermostat is a known fault, euro car parts do aftermarket ones for about 2/3rds the price, but still getting on for £90 ish.

electronic thermostat...stooopid idea..BMW's are going that way too!!!
