Citroen DS5 - Warranties and leasing - drd63

Hi All, I'm interested in your thoughts please. I lease my DS5 and overall I'm really pleased with it, however I've got some corrosion on the wheels which, if I owned the car I'd be into the dealer asking to get it sorted, however it's leased so I'm not really prepared to take the time and trouble. So my question is - when the car goes back at the end of 3 years with scabby wheels (clearly not caused by kerbing) and out of warranty will I get grief from the leasing company? Thoughts very much appreciated.

Yes. And quite rightly, too.

If you lease a car you have a duty of care to look after the car in all aspects of it's use- treat it like you would if you owned it.

Take some photographs of the corrosion, and keep the leasing company informed. Take the car to the supplying dealer, or other Citroen dealership if the former is miles away, and demand reinstatement or replacement of the affected wheels.

At the end of the lease the car will be expected and the cost to rectify any defects that are not normal wear and tear will be charged to the person who leased it. The charges the companies make are extortionate, its always far better to use a local specialist company the do a full reapir job on any damage before the end of the lease.

But what your company considers to be wear and tear is the unknown factor, check your T & C's.

Regardless of this if you can get them fixed under warranty do it now. You should get a loan car to minimise the inconvenience.

1) Wear & tear might be the corrosion of the clearcoat

2) Damaged is kerbed alloys and they the corrosion bobbles up around the kerbed area.

1) Can be a warranty issue when car is reasonably new. If at the end of the lease can be returned and you have an argument that it is wear & tear

2) Definitely will be charged as damage - might be £100 per wheel. Local wheel repairer might do the job for £60 or less.
