Toyota Corolla Verso - Toyota Corolla Verso Advice - Spatacus
Hi,
Am in the process of upgrading my verso to a 2005 model, the only problem is I noticed on the mot certificate there was an advisory saying "blue smoke from exhaust on hard acceleration".I asked the dealer about it and he said the "cat converter" was on its way out and was therefore willing to knock £250 off the price;I also learnt from the dealer most corolla verso's use a bit of oil.
Clearly this car has some issues, what I need to know is will they be quite expensive to fix.?
Thanx

He's a lying toerag.. Blue smoke = oil.

IS THIS A diesel or petrol?

How can we answer a question if you don't tell us the basic facts?

If it's a petrol, the engine had oil control issues and burned oil.. It's out of warranty - Toyota replaced engines FOC but too late now..

But unless you tell us the engine type, I'm wasting my time.

As the MOT for petrol engines doesn't include any requirement to undertake 'hard acceleration' I don't understand why this detail is even on an MOT certificate. All that is required is a period of continual revs at typical running speeds circa 2-3,000 rpm

Walk and look for another Verso.

Thanks.

Run away - as daveyjp says.

The engine is basically clapped out.

>Daveyjp.

They probably had to rev it hard to heat up the cat/exhaust to get it to the proscribed temperature for emissions test.

All guide advise, but basically walk away and puchase a car without issues. £250 is not going to cover much and who know what else will be discovered.

Agreed with previous posts. Only purchase this car if it is so cheap that you can afford to scrap it when anything goes wrong.
