Hi, can anyone tell me the best way of getting aspare key for my golf or is it a dealer only item. Thanks for any replies. Sparky100.

Replacement keys for these come pre-coded from the factory and require full diagnostic access to the car to make them work 100%.If you value your car,get a genuine key and get it programmed either by the vw dealer or a specialist who has access to the Vw on-line system.Do not use anything from glee-bay or your local key cutting outlet.

I would think somewhere between £150 -£200.,with the key.

Any one with VCDS software can program the key for you. Programmed new key should be around £50-£70.

Dont get the key from your local keycutters i think they are cloned rather than new programmed keys.

Vcds will not programme a key on this late model car.Controllers on this car have component protection and keys can only be programmed on line through the VW system.
