peugeot expert 2.0 hdi - peugeot expert 2.0 hdi p0230 - ODD ball

Hi any help would be great. I have a Peugeot expert 2001 start but wont run for any more than 4/6 seconds. I then have to wait for a minute with the key off before it restarts anything before then and it just cranks over. I have changed the tank pump and the relay with new Peugeot parts cleared the codes but it still the same.

The few seconds its runs its fine no smoke or missing. It ticks over lovely then just stops it doesn't fade out it just stops ( like pulling a plug)

Any ideas for what to try next?

You could have posted them here,

Or is the P0230 code the only one?

So can you read live data?

Specifically the fuel rail pressure?

In graph form if you scanner can do that.

A slow loss of rail pressure makes these stumble/stall.

A sudden drop to under say 180 bar will stop it almost dead.

Say from a bad connector to the fuel rail pressure sensor.

So back to graph scanning the fuel rail pressure.

What scanner are you using?

Fuel rail pressure problems are often caused by the pressure regulator on the HP diesel pump. It has a filter which gets blocked and is almost impossible to clean. You can get a new one off ebay for about £85.00 or a used one for about £25.

It is mounted on the back of the pump and held by two torx or philips screws and a connector.
