Golf III electrics & pressure test - Phil P
Since we have some VW experts in the house . . .

Has anyone had trouble with Golf Mk III door electrics? If so, is it best sorted by an auto-electrician or a dealer. My local VW specialist couldn't diagnose the fault (dodgy connections in the bulkhead connectors) so I don't want to give it to them.

Also, can compression tests be done on catalyzed engines?

TIA

Phil

See car by car breakdown. There was a recall about this. Other readers have had the same problem.

Re compression test. Yes you can do it without harming the catalytic converter providing you prevent fuel being injected into the engine whilst you are cranking it. Easiest is to crank the engine using a remote starting switch on the starter solenoid with the inition OFF (key out and in your pocket!). Otherwise disconnect the plug from the distributor (no spark = no fuel) or disconnect the electrical connectors from the back of the injector(s).
