Tyres - Event tyres - RobJP

We need a full set of A/T tyres for our farm/winter vehicle (Shogun sport 2007). A lot of retailers and e-tailers very expensive, though.

Saw the link on HJ home page for Event tyres. They come out to your home or work, pretty keen pricing too. Then the HJ code makes it even more so. Hankook 245/70 R16 111T A/T worked out at £90 per corner, if getting 4.

Ordered them yesterday, put down for Tuesday fitting. Had a phone call 2 minutes(!) later from them, asking if it was possible for them to do the job on Monday, as they've got a fitter in the area on that day. Fine with me, so agreed the day swap.

Having them fitted at work on Monday, so will report back then on customer service, etc.

Used them about 5 times in the past. No problems but when I had to cancel my order the last time I found the employee on the phone to be rude and aggressive. So won't be using them again.

Our current car had Event tyres on the front wheels when we bought it secondhand. They were good tyres and lasted well. As I knew nothing about Event tyres, when the time came to replace the front tyres I went for Dunlop because they were on an offer at my local ATS, where the fitter also knew nothing about Event tyres ! But as I say, on my limited exerience of them, they were OK.

The OP is referring to a firm of mobile tyre fitters who sell most tyre brands but not Event!

I used Event tyres about 3 years ago for a set on the wifes car. The price was lower than any local company could quote, the chap turned up at exactly the time booked and phoned before to confirm his ETA and he was very careful removing the tyres and refitting th new ones on the alloy rims. All in all a faultless service.

But we currently need a new set on dads car. Tried Event tyres and they no longer operate in our area.

Back to local suppliers by the looks of it.

Well, got a phone call from the fitter about 10am this morning, saying he'd be with me between 11 and 12. Arrived about 11:20.

Walked round, checked all was as should be, and got on with the job. All finished by 12:15.

Good, tidy worker, car left immaculate. Very happy with it all. They'll certainly be getting a good writeup on their review system (Trustpilot, I believe).
