Peugeot 306 2.0 hdi 2000 (w) - Peugeot 306 ignition switch or barrel? - rightcar

Hi.

I wonder if anyone could help. The return spring has gone in my ignition ( when the car is started the key will not return and has to be done manually) I have got the barrel and ignition switch out but can't figure out if the return action is in the switch or the barrel.

If it is in the barell that would make things a lot easier as I wont have to have key programmed and the like.

The spring action is in the switch.you should be able to swap this part over.it will not need to be programmed.you should be able to remove the key blade from the fob,so if the barrel is faulty,it is still possible to use the immobiliser chip from the original key.

Hi and thanks for your rapid response.

If I just change the switch, there will be no need to change the key blade over..will there? The switch I have removed from the barrel is just the white plastic thing..is the spring in there?

That,s the one ,with approx 4 or 5 wires attached.I don,t think this can be bought as a separate part,so you may have to go s/hand.change this part only and no need to change anything else.
