VW - VW DSG 7 gearbox - still unreliable? - lambada

I've read some horror stories about VW's DSG 7 gearbox. Drivers have reported total power loss experiences on motorways. Have VW really solved the problem by using mineral oil? Is it safe to buy a brand new vehicle with this gearbox?

Well you'll have the benefit of a 3 year warranty if you buy new, so you should be ok. But if you're looking to keep the car longer than that, it may be wise to either take out an extended warranty or look at other makes. The reputation of the DSG box isn't that good. Class actions and major recalls in other parts of the world.

The warranty is not worth the paper it is written on, I pickecked up my car it had done 6,000 miles and was six months old i complained about dsg box to selling dealer inchcapes twice first answer it had to learn driving style second time did software update.

The reported ongoing issue to Peter Coopers in Chichestesr at 20K, 40K and 60K service but still not sorted.

Then car went back to inchcape VW diagnosed that metatronics was the issue but would only repair as goodwill with to many unfair conditions.

Now I have been to court VW have car and i have to pay to diagnose fault already diagnosed.

I finf VW dealers and VW uk stall warranty issues so you cant claim, however this doe not affect Statatuary rights.

I would not buy a DSG again as with dual mass flywheel issue am always worrying about the next big bill from this quality product.
