C3 Picasso - Finding 'spare' wheels for c3 picasso - crappycat
New C3 Picasso march 2013 with 17" alloys. I needed a full size spare wheel for travelling abroad(Just in case!).
What A CARRY ON!
Apparently Citroen do not have a 17'' Steel wheel for a C3 Picasso(the Alloys were hugely expensive) so I was advised a 16'' wheel would be ok but omitted to tell me that I would need a different tyre to achieve the same diameter as the alloys already fitted(original tyres are Michelin low profile).
After messing about and fitting the wrong tyre initially Kevin at North East Tyre and Exhausts in Silverlink, Wallsend,Newcastle upon Tyne came up trumps and tried 2 sizes against the fitted tyres and eventually fitted a 205/55R16 which resolved the situation.WELL DONE N E TYRES
Another thing I changed when I bought the car was to replace the puncture repair canister with a tichy spare wheel.I don't think filling you tyre with gunk will enable a puncture repair and I would feel safer with a proper tyre, even though its a toy one!

Are the wheel nuts/bolts compatible with the steel spare and did you get a jack and wheel brace?

Spot on as usual BT, genuine full(ish) size steel spare wheels on PSA cars have a collar welded into each wheelbolt hole enabling the normal alloy wheel bolts to be used, best check things out first.

Even if the tyre is "full size" since its different to the OEM wheels it will be considered a "space saver" and because of this speed will be restricted normally to 55 mph. You need the big yellow stickers on the wheel showing this.

But since this is not a Citroen option size it will not have been type approved and could open a whole new can or worms if you had an accident whilst using it.

The minimum the OP needs to do is inform his insurers about the facts plus check what the law is on the continenent regarding using non OEM spares.

I agree that it will be better that the usual wheel barrow tyre supplied but despite the wheel barrow tyres challanging appearance it has been approved for the vehicle it is supplied with.

So today I picked up my new 2014 C3 Picasso. I'll never have a new car again so this was really exciting. I didn't want the can of foam so have got the appropriate 'space saver' wheel however there was no towing eye, brace, jack or little wheel nut protector removal tool which is needed to prevent these chrome look (plastic) covers from breaking when removing. I've seen many kits on ebay in the polystyrene holders with all these bits (except the removal tool I've just mentioned) but they are for earlier Picasso models so maybe they won't be the suitable for mine. The jack, brace and towing eye are really important and if my 17' clover wheels can be removed using the same brace as the earlier models then my problem is solved. Are all the jacks the same too? I can't imagine the weight of the car will have changed or the jacking points moved with this latest model. Any advice and help would be very much appreciated.
