I own the above recently purchased car and now wish to top-up the power steering fluid.
There would appear to be contradictions as to which is the correct fluid to use.
Both the Ford Handbook and Haynes Workshop Manual state the fluid used should be to Ford specification WSS-M2C204-A, which is a fully synthetic fluid and green in colour.
However, on checking on Ebay with sellers who are also Ford Main Dealers, they inform me the correct fluid to use is to Ford specification WSS-M2C938-A, which is a semi-synthetic fluid and red in colour.
I can't really tell the colour of the fluid already in the reservoir because, after 6 years, it looks black! I am well aware that putting in the wrong fluid can cause damage to the power steering system.
I would just like to ask whether anyone on here can throw any light on this discrepancy, please?
If you happen to own a Ford Mondeo Mk3 of a similar age (2007) then I would be very interested to learn which fluid you have put into yours.
Many Thanks.
