Nissan X-trail 2.2 dCi - Nissan X-trail 2.2 dCi 2006 - a good buy ? - lennymacd

Hi,

I have been living in the north of Sweden for the last 6 years and now I feel its time to to get a 4 x 4 as we have about 5 - 6 months of winter.

The car I have been looking at is a 2006 Nissan X-trail 2.2 dCi with 65000km on the clock and used to be owned by one of the councils here, they have serviced it but they do not have the service book.

I have read a few negative things about the 2.2dCi engine but what would you advise - is this a good car ?

I would use it to go to and from work about 10km each way, 5 days per week, on some weekends to a summer house about 100km each way and then each year to see the parents in laws in germany about 1500km each way and to Scotland 3000km each way

Would this be a good and reliable car to buy ? and if so what do I need to watch out for ?

MANY THANKS for your time and advice,

Dave.

I wouldnt touch, this from personal experience, had a fully serviced X-Trail 05 plated SVE and the engine (con rods) blew at a relatively young 75k miles. Expect to get nothing from Nissan regardless of mileage, they are quick to sell cars to you but not so good when it all goes pear shaped.

Name any manufacturer that will cover a 7/8 yr old 75Kmile car?

I'm happy with my X Trail but a series of short journeys is not good for modern diesels and the X Trail is no exception.

I predict that you will become very familiar with the EGR valve before too long and these sites are worth book-marking
