Ford Essex V6 GTE - Alternator Terminal Identification - Bazza353

Hi I have the above alternator Type 80 BB 10300 and need to identify the spade terminals on the back.

Group of three terminals :

B+(large spade) Unmarked(large spade) D+(small spade)

off to one side is a small terminal spade also marked B+

Any help will be gratefully received

The 2 large spade connectors are battery supply,connected directly to the battery,usually at a power terminal point.The D+ is the charge warning light term and is the earth path from the dash warning light.The small B+ is a spur from the main large B+ and usually has a surpressor connected to it,but not essential for alternator operation.hth

And thanks for the reply.

I guessed that the two large terminals would be the high current connectors and the D terminal probably for the charge warning light, but the small terminal (also B+) completely threw me. The interesting thing is that many decades ago before the internet I was a Radio Ham and we used to strap a very crude suppressor (capacitor and resistor for the time constant) across our morse key contacts to prevent “key clicks”, your post brought it all back!
