Jag XF 3.0D - Very Smelly AC unit

Jag XF 3.0D - Very Smelly AC unit - Dekatsos

My car stinks of very stale urine after the AC unit has been used. Have tried a bacterial spray into air intake to no avail.

Is there a simple way to get to the condenser unit in order to give it a good going over?

If not, what else can be suggested.

Your input would be greatly appreciated as I'm sure that if the problem can't be solved I'll soon be cleaning puke from the foowell!!!!!

You could try an air-con 'bomb'. Something like this: tinyurl.com/n7eh59t

I've used one once, but it didn't make much difference.

What I do now is spray an aerosol of neutradol air freshener into the outside heater air inlet whilst the air-con's on 'fresh air' every few weeks, that seems as effective as anything else.

You need to find an a/con specialist that has the equipment to access the evaporator (the condensor is at the front of the car) with a flexible lance to apply the deodorising fluid ,usually through the heater blower motor aperture.hth

My S-Max had a smell - not unpleasant but slightly odd. When it went in for a service to a local indy, they did a proper job and replaced the cabin filter. The old one had not been changed in four years and was disgustingly dirty and will mould spores on it as well. The smell went overnight after the change.
