Vauxhall Vectra - Dual Mass Flywheel - comfycar

I've posted this on "Technical" - had only one reply.

Re: Vectra 1.8, Elegance, Petrol, Registered 2 June 2003.

Does my car have a Dual Mass Flywheel? Has anyone ever had to change their flywheel/clutch and found out?

I've rung numerous dealers and no one can tell me more than telling me the warning sounds to listen out for when it starts to go.

The nearest I've got is one Service Man at a Vauxhall dealer letting me know that the cost of a replacement flywheel suggests that it has a standard flywheel as the DMF would be more expensive.

If I have to replace the clutch - it's done 91k - does it follow that the flywheel is replaced (whether it is a standard one or a DMF)?

Also,

If my car is 2003 - does that mean it is a C type?

The Vectra-C started in 2002 and ran until 2008 so yours should be one of those.

Flywheel isn't replaced at same time as clutch, unless it's faulty - some cars can be converted from DMF to normal when that happens.

Diesels need DMFs but some makes have them on petrols as well - I don't know what Vauxhall do.

The 1.8 petrol didnt have a DMF, it had a solid flywheel. Just the higher powered petrols had a DMF
