Ford fiesta 06 plate - Melting vs. replacing - annavb
Hi, I need some advice.
My ford fiesta 1.25 06 plate was bumped in to last weekend and the bumper has been split and paint damaged.
I took it to a body specialist I know and he said that the bumper needed replacing.
The person who bumped in to my car has taken photos and his body specialist has said that he will melt the plastic back together, paint and then reinforce.
Obviously I want my car back to the best condition ...... If I had it melted back will this create a weak point and is there a risk of me having to replace it again soon?
Also - if anyone knows of any links that discusses this I would be very grateful :)

I think you will find this method is called "plastic welding".It is a very common repair procedure in bodyshops and is very effective in repairing cracks and splits.Bumpers on modern cars are no more than a plastic covering.hth
