Chevrolet Tacuma - Chevrolet Tacuma - can it be that bad? - daveyK_UK

Hi,

I have been radomly offered a Chevvy Tacuma from a friend.

1.6 sx on a 57 plate.

Anyone ever had the joy of owning one of these beauties?

The Tacuma is a Daewoo, rebadged as Chevrolet when the Daewoo branding was dropped - it's based on the Daewoo Nubira which was Daewoo's first independent design following previous use of obsolete Opel/Vauxhall platforms.

The Tacuma's engine/transmissions are all based on Opel/Vauxhall units.

HJ's review states "Roomy, versatile, well-equipped mini-MPV. Decent ride and handling. It's no looker. You have to lift luggage quite high to load it into the boot."

I used to drive these a few times some years ago as rental cars overseas. Rather basic technology, with average engines and poor economy (although the cars i was given were all automatics) but roomy and practical, with a decent load space for luggage as well as space for five in comfort.

I can have it at trade price, but im not convinced.

I have been told the manuals are thirsty, the autos must drink the juice.

it's based on the Daewoo Nubira

A mate and I had a Nubira on hire some years ago. Nothing to like about it, but nothing to dislike either. As boring, ordinary, four door saloons go it wasn't bad.
