MG ZT - Apparent big gap between ownership and issue of V5 - Blue Straggler

Hi all. I am sure I am fussing about nothing but here goes.
I am in the process of making a private purchase of an MG Zt-T. Car looks fine, seller genuine, happy to furnish me with details for an HPI check etc.
I know the V5 form isn't - to some people - the clearest thing to read. So anyway...first I had a correct VIN, a wrong serial number (vendor had not read it off the right bit of the form, it wasn't in the right format so HPI rejected it) and a V5 registration date.
When I got the right serial number, only THEN did the HPI decide the V5 registration date (June 2011) was wrong. I guessed the vendor had given me his date of acquisition of the car which might differ from the V5 registration because you have to post it off etc.
Got the correct date from him but it's 13 months later. Aside from the fact that I'd expect a vendor to know whether he'd had a car for 2 years or 1 year, how can there be such a gap (the HPI is retaining the June 2011 date for "Current Keeper Acquired on...")

I don't understand how there can be a record that seems to show that the current keeper did not register a V5 until having the car for over a year. Hopefully I am just missing something simple here?

Thanks

Oooh! Maybe it was bought June 2011 with a private registration and they decided to transfer that registration to another vehicle, requiring a replacement V5 for the one I am buying? I suppose I can ask the vendor.

Aha sorted it, it's just that DVLA would have sent my vendor the replacement red V5. I thought that had all been done in 2010-11 but it seems that was mostly for new cars then in Sep 2011 they decided to reissue red ones to everyone. As my vendor had bought the car in June 2011 it had had a blue one and it took until July 2012 to get the red one sent out to him. All clear now :-)

Sad to say ,but the v5 would be the least of your problems .im busy trying to make one road worthy at the moment .

.2004 model ,it came in part ex at £600 ,it now has a new mot .but needs a replacement rear wiper motor ,it has electric problems ,poor quality wiring ,rusty sills .etc .awful build quality .

It drives like a go cart because it has. 17" 35 profile tyres .extremely jittery ride on loose surfaces .

Poor cars at any price .

Thanks...well any second hand (or indeed new!) car is a risk I guess. I'll take the risk on this one. The only other car that I researched as thoroughly as this was the VW Polo Saloon that I bought 10 years ago. It wasn't very good! Became a money pit, then I went to bangernomics but that didn't work out too well so I am going for some middle ground here. Most people love their Zt-T!

If you do not clean out the water drains in front of the windscreen the ECU fries and the cost of a new one is more than the car is worth,Its not an easy operation as quite a lot of plastic has to be removed.
