Ford Focus TDCi 2006 - Warning Message ' Power steering inoperable' - moulin87

Today the above message has appeared intermittantly along with the battery warning light. Am I right to assume it is likely to be the belt which is slipping because it has become a little slack?

Could be Belt, alternator or battery. If the battery has never been changed get it checked.

The pas system on this model is electro/hydraulic.There is no engine driven pump,so it is unlikely to be a belt problem. However,if the battery warning light is showing,it is possible that you have a fault with the alternator and/or charging circuit.hth

Thanks. To confirm it is the 2.0 TDCI 136bhp engine, so it still has the electro/hydraulic system?

The 1.6 tdci has the epas, the 2.0 may not have. There are a few variations,so you need to check under bonnet. However, the fact that it is showing a message on the info panel tends to suggest it does have epas.hth
