Part Ex Advice - BasilTheRat

Hi All,

I was after a bit of advice. I have a 56 plate focus Tdci which I am looking to trade in against a new car. It is pretty good nick, recently serviced and 10 months MoT remaining. There is a small amount of damage to the bodywork though, a supermarket car park ding and a bit of a scuff on one of the rear wheel arches. Had a quote to repair of £300. Was just wondering if it is worth doing on a car of this age, or just part ex as it is?

Any advice gratefully received

I think it depends on the attitude of the individual dealer, and perhaps also whether they have their own body shop. If so, they can get it done cheaper than you could. Just ask them what difference it makes to their offer and see if it's greater than £300.

They will chip you for the damage - but £300 sounds a lot

what about trying someone like Chipsaway or one of the "smart" repairers specialising

in this type of damage ......I though these guys usually charge approx £80 per panel, (or used to - not used for a while though)

£300 does appear a bit high,

its worth getting it done IMO as dealers want clean cars they can throw on the forecourt.
