Honda CR-V 1.6 DIESEL 2014 - FLASHING GREEN KEY ON DASH - 3mpv

Already used car today, went to restart within 30min,was cranking over for a few seconds,no start,;flashing green key on dash.Tried spare key,no luck, tried disconnect battery for 30 min,no luck. Search online suggests immobiliser issue? Did have PGMI fault code before this, but ran fine. Any ideas ?, will be ringing auto elecs tomorrow, that i have used before, but dont think they offer mobile service. There are other mobile auto elecs in the area, so shouldnt be a problem getting someone out. Many Thanks.

Previous models of Honda , had a crash/ inertia switch located behind the dashboard. This would give the same symptoms of Immobiliser issues.,not sure if your car has this .

Mr Google

A flashing green key light on your 2014 Honda CR-V indicates the immobilizer system is not recognizing the key, preventing the engine from starting. To troubleshoot, try replacing the battery in your key fob, using a spare key, or ensuring a blown immobilizer-related fuse is replaced. If these steps fail, the problem likely requires professional diagnosis and potential reprogramming by a Honda dealership or a specialized repair shop with diagnostic tools.

Immediate troubleshooting steps:

  1. 1. Check the Key Fob Battery:

A weak or dead key fob battery can prevent the immobilizer from recognizing the key. Replace the battery with a fresh one.

  2. 2. Use a Spare Key:

Try starting the vehicle with your spare key. If the spare key works, the issue is likely with the original key's transponder chip or fob.

  3. 3. Inspect for Fuses:

Check the fuses related to the immobilizer system. A blown fuse can cause this issue, especially after work on the vehicle.

  4. 4. Lock and Unlock Doors:

Some users have reported that locking and unlocking the doors with the key can sometimes reset the system and resolve the issue, particularly after a low battery.
