Your ownership story largely mirrors my own, I've owned a 2016 Mazda 6 for around 6 and a half years now, which I still enjoy driving and have no immediate plans to replace. Currently at 72000 miles. I would quite like an EV next time around so am interested in checking out the 6e when it comes to the UK sometime next year.
I changed all the brakes and pads a few years back after the factory discs rotted with some Brembo equivalents, about £250 courtesy of ECP. Changed the 9 year old battery last month with an upgraded Varta. The original battery had never failed to start but the stop start had stopped starting and it was showing as worn on my battery tester so better safe than sorry and change early.
I had to get my front parking sensors checked last week as they were intermittently throwing a fault, water ingress into the connector blocks in the wiring loom was shorting them. A quick clean and as good as new again.
I’m starting to hear knocking noises when turning sharp 90 deg corners and had suspected worn drop links and ARB bushings. Good to know it’s not just me :) A complete set of front and rear Meyle links and bushings come in under £100 on autodoc so there’s another weekends diy once the weather improves.
Apart from the above, there’s been nothing particularly egregious, no warning lights, no engine EMLs, no drama and no big bills. A very easy car to live with.
