One of my neighbour's cars is a 2003 Golf 150 TDI and just hit 270,000 miles. Still goes well, recently had a new sensor as it was down on power but normal performance restored. I was amazed to learn it's still on the original clutch. Must be some kind of record. Can anyone beat that?
I recall ICL (computers) had a car that did something like a twice weekly return trip from Stevenage to somewhere in the North-West, to transfer data (probably by floppy disc). That car did stellar mileage on original engine, clutch, brakes and tyres, as it was cruising most of the time on the M1 and M6 (back in the day when you could!).
Just remembered, a friend has a civic diesel that's done 205k, engine sounds sweet as a nut, rest of the car leaves a lot to be desired, he treats it like a skip and car cleaning is not his number one pastime.
My cousin bought an Alfa 156 Sportwagon 1.9JTD with 180K on the clock, for £750. Took it to 330K without serious issue, servicing it himself. He changed the drive shaft around then as it had some play from sheer age and wear. Then sold it on for £200. it's still taxed and MOTd.
