Mercedes E220d - Camshaft warranty Mercedes E220d - MercE220d

Not sure if this is the correct place to post also posted in legal forum...

Hi all just wanting a bit of guidance. I have a 16 plate E220d Mercedes. 11 months ago (2 months out of warranty) I had camshafts fitted at my own cost at a Mercedes dealership. Last week my car broke down again had a call from Mercedes dealership were I had it recovered to who also carried out the work 11 months ago saying a camshaft has failed and they have requested warranty from Mercedes UK. I won't hear the outcome until Monday.


Does anyone know what I should expect them to cover? Just the parts or part and labour or...?

Car serviced twice by a Mercedes specialist since and isn't due another service for 4000 miles.

Why did you change the camshaft? That's pretty integral to the engine and should in most instances last the lifetime of the engine. It's their a design fault with this engine?

The first time I had taken it to the dealer I was told they had never seen it before. Might have been true as not many of the new engines would have had so many miles. But over the last year I have heard of more and more having this problem so it turns out there is a design flaw.
