Volvo V70 2008 - Steering lock

Volvo V70 2008 - Steering lock - barney100

Got an error message, turn wheel to free steering lock. No joy after multiple tries and the AA man is baffled. Car now at indies after being transported away. the wheel turns but the car won't start...any ideas?

What do you mean " it will not start" Is the engine turning over, is the immobilser activated.

Tell us what is happening.

The car is immobilised and no signal is going to the mechanism which starts it..simply it's dead.

I presume this has an electronic steering lock,so it is important that the battery is in good order.Also may be an idea to disconnect the battery for 10 mins to see if this resets the system.Battery bit of a pain to access as it is located in the boot under loads of brackets and covers.

Actually the battery in the mk3 is under the bonnet.

Did you try using both keys?

And finally, assuming you've sorted it, what was the matter?
