2002 Audi TT - OSF side light keeps blowing - spud2117
I've just picked up an Audi TT (2002). The car is very clean with an excellent service history.
On inspection at the garage I noticed the OSF side light was out, which the seller gladly replaced when mentioned. Traveling home I had to use the headlights which all seemed fine, then the next day I noticed the OSF side light had blown again which I just put down as one of them things and replaced it. This evening ( a few days later) it's blown again. Has any body got any ideas as to what may be the cause so that I have a general area to investigate when I go out tomorrow to try and sort it.
Many thanks

Best thing you can do is take it to a car electrics specialist. Somewhere, a wire is shorting out. They will be able to tell you where.

Faffing around with it yourself (unless you are an electrician or some such) is a complete waste of time

If I recall, these use a 5w halogen bulb that sits on a plastic frame..If you are buying them from a local accessory/factor outlet, then the chances are you are buying cheapo parts.Go to a main dealer and buy the correct bulb.It will cost about £10 but should last longer. Also don't touch the bulb glass with bare fingers.

As usual sound advice from the doc, agree completely about buying quality cos cheapo tat often lasts minutes or days at best, only thing i can add is that if a fitting is subject to vibration (loose, rattling about) then bulb life is often short.

There are only two things which will normally cause a bulb to fail, one is over voltage, in which case it should affect the other bulbs, or excessive vibration, otherwise as already suggested poor quality bulbs.

I usually use 'Ring' bulbs from Ebay, pretty cheap and no problems.
