Intended to rival the likes of the Mercedes-AMG S 63 Coupe and Cabriolet, the BMW M8 Competition is available as a Coupe and Convertible with a high-revving petrol V8 engine producing 625PS.

Orders for the high-performance M version of the 8 Series are now open, with prices starting at £123,435 for the Coupe and £130,435 for the Convertible.

The M8 Competition's twin-turbocharged V8 engine generates 750Nm of torque and is combined with an eight-speed steptronic gearbox and xDrive all-wheel-drive to take the Coupe from 0 to 62mph in 3.2 seconds. The Convertible completes the same run in 3.3 seconds.

All models have an electronically limited top speed of 155mph, rising to 189mph if the optional M Driver’s Package is specified.

The Coupe’s official fuel consumption is 26.6-26.9mpg with CO2 emissions of 242g/km, while the Convertible’s combined fuel consumption is 26.2-26.6mpg with CO2 emissions of 246g/km.

A model-specific exhaust system featuring twin tailpipes with a diameter of 100mm provides a stirring soundtrack, while an M Sound Control button on the centre console can adjust the exhaust's volume.

The rear-biased four-wheel-drive system only sends power to the front when additional traction is required. Alternatively, the driver can adjust the distribution of power between the axles through a setup menu.

The same system lets the driver choose between various settings for the engine, suspension, steering and braking. M-specific adaptive suspension with electronically controlled dampers is standard.

The interior features red accents along with newly developed sports seats with perforated 3D quilting. Leather trim is standard.

Orders are now open for the BMW M8 Coupe and Convertible.
