Why is there no temperature gauge in our new Vauxhall Corsa?

I recently bought my wife a new Vauxhall Corsa. I was surprised to see that it does not have a temperature gauge. Why does this car manufacturer do this?

Bad omission. There should at least be a light that warns you the engine is not up to temperature.
