A seller lied about being the registered keeper of a car - was I right to avoid buying?
I went to buy a car yesterday, the seller said he bought it new and was the only owner. When I looked at the logbook, it stated the registered keeper was ERAC - Enterprise Rent A Car. When I asked for an explanation, he mumbled something about getting the car cheaper through his car hire company. It all sounded dubious, so I walked away. Any thoughts?

You did the right thing. No stigma attacked to ex-rentals, but this guy was lying for some reason and you don't want to buy a car from a liar. Always trust your instinct about a car and a vendor. Never argue yourself into a deal.
