Who can repair my MG F's Steptronic gearbox?

My beloved 2001 MG F has got a fault with the gearbox. She sometimes revs then drops into gear, and sometimes she's fine and goes into gear no problem. I have been told that I might need a new gearbox at a cost of £1600 or there could be a fault with the electronics that select the gears - it is a Steptronic. Can anyone help?

Get it to a member of www.fedauto.co.uk. If you are lucky it might just be a fault with one of the cheap looking switches that can be used to control the gear changes.
