Does a head gasket repair also mean an engine refurb?

I have a 2008 Peugeot 307 and need a head gasket repair. Does a head gasket repair also constitute an engine refurb?

No. But it's a big job, requiring the head off, any broken studs replacing, head and block re-facing, new timing belt, etc, so it won't be cheap.
