How easily does the Fiat 500 1.3 Lounge diesel's DPF clog up?

We tried out the Fiat 500 1.2 Lounge petrol but found it to be very sluggish, especially as we live in Devon with loads of hills. You mentioned that there could be problems with diesel models on short journeys - what is classed as a short journey? I have tried out the 1.3 Lounge diesel and thought it was okay, but now I'm worried about the filters blocking. I do local trips of 10-20 miles every other day and also 40-70 miles every couple of weeks. The dealer mentioned that a new 500 turbo under 1.0-litre was going to be launched in the autumn - do you know anything about this vehicle and what would be the pitfalls? I would like something nippy with that additional power to overtake, and good economy.

Your type of use should be enough for the DPF to regenerate without problems. It's repeated short runs from cold that kill off a DPF on this model, by which I mean three to five short runs from cold without a clear run of at least 20-30 miles to allow the DPF to regenerate.
