Can a car dealer be held liable over a missing DPF?

Can you clarify the situation regarding DPFs? What would happen if a used car was bought from a dealership and subsequently (after two years) found that the DPF had been removed? Could the dealership be expected to replace the DPF so that the car is no longer illegal?

Actually, yes. But if the dealer challenges this it could go to Small Claims in the County Court and the ruling would depend on who the judge believed. Law here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights/
