DPF problems with BMW 1 Series

I have a 59 plate BMW 1 Series 118d. For the past few weeks the DPF light has been coming on after about 10 mins after driving. My local garage says the DPF is block and needs replacing. I asked if they could do a forced regen and they said it was too badly blocked, I asked about cleaning it and he said it doesn't always work. What should I do?

If it's blocked then it can probably be cleaned out by the Ceramex process for about £350 rather than need to be replaced. But he's right about the doesn't always work. Usually does, but not always.

Great to drive and superbly built. Wide choice of models, improved from 2007 with Efficient Dynamics. 118d is super economical.
