What's causing heavy wear to the insides of my Mercedes-Benz E-Class tyres?

I have just replaced the rear tyres on my 2007 Mercedes-Benz E320 at 25,000 miles. As far as I am concerned, this mileage is very good. However, on both tyres it was very evident that inner third of the tyre width was considerably more worn that the rest of the tread, which to me indicated over-inflation. I am fastidious in maintaining tyre pressures at the recommended level. My Mercedes-Benz dealer informed me that this uneven wear pattern is normal. Have you any thoughts on this?

Probably caused by straddling speed cushions.
