Are Porsche Boxsters suitable for short trips?

You recently published a response stating that short runs are very bad for a flat six Porsche Boxster engine. Why do you say that? I use my 2000 model as my station car (seven miles each way) and have never had a problem. It does get used on occasional longer runs too.

Because the engine is a flat six and starting it to run for a short distance floods the bores with petrol, cleaning off the lubricating oil. This is bad for a vertical engine, but for a flat wet sump engine the problem is compounded.
