Electronic handbrake issue on Citroen C4 Grand Picasso
My Citroen C4 Grand Picasso failed its MOT on "handbrake hold". Investigation by the dealer showed a complete failure of cables and motor costing £1000 to replace and repair.
I noted two recalls in the past for electronic handbrake hold issues but my car is not on the list. Its a Jan 2008 model with 80,000 miles. Do you think this cost is excessive and is this failure typical for the year and mileage?

Yes, it's a typical failure, but a 2008 is nearly 8 years old, 2 years past the 6 year limit, so no chance of any kind of liability claim. I get the impression that electromechanical parking brakes are now improving, but yours, the original C-Max's and the 2005-2011 Passats were known to be trouble. £1,000 is normal for replacement parking brake motors both sides.
