How can I stop my Honda Civic hesitating under acceleration?

I have recently bought a 2007 Honda Civic 1.8i ES, and have owned it for a week. I commute 40 miles a day to my workplace and, in an effort to keep fuel costs to a minimum, I try and be as delicate as possible with the application of the throttle. I have noticed that when I apply gentle pressure to the pedal, the engine appears to stutter for a split second before pulling away. This happens in all gears apart from first when pulling off from stationary. For example, travelling at 30mph in third in a speed limit, if I apply the throttle gently to maintain the speed, then I get this slight misfire before the engine pulls. I have been back to the dealer, and they say that they have put it on the computer and cannot find a fault. Any ideas?

Switch petrol to Shell V-Power. That burns cleaner at low revs and has the additives to keep the fuel system clean.
