Advice on recall notification

I have a Jeep Patriot 2011. Yesterday it started leaking coolant and the water pump was making a grinding noise. Dropped it off at my local mechanic to look at. The same day I get a call from the Jeep Dealer I bought it off to say I had not responded to a product recall regarding coolant hose leaks ! When I spoke to my mechanic he tells me its £600 + VAT to repair! I did not receive any recall/notification from the Dealer/Jeep previously, I checked with Jeep today they say its not a recall but a maintenance notification and was sent to first Registered keeper (which turns out was the dealer that sold it new) in July. Do you think I have a claim on Jeep or the Dealer for not notifying me ?

If you have always had the car serviced and maintained by Jeep dealers, yes. If you have not had it serviced and maintained by Jeep dealers, no, simply because they would not know where the car was or who owned. The only time the DVLA database is used for recalls is for safety recalls by DVSA/VOSA. If this is a diesel then it has a VW 2.0 TDI engine that needs a new timing belt, timing belt tensioner and waterpump every 4 years anyway.
