Can I use a stick-on number plate on my Vauxhall Corsa's tow bar?

I have had a tow bar fitted to my Corsa, and when I attach the cycle carrier base to the tow bar it partially obscures the bottom of the year of registration mark. When I am carrying my bicycle I have a lighting bar which I attach to the bike, so that other drivers can see my number and rear warning lights. To save me the bother of having to remove and re-attach the bike carrier base to the tow bar, would it be legal to have a stick-on number plate attached to the boot to supplement the registration details?

A stick on number plate would not be legal because it would not carry the name of the maker, and this is something over which attempts are being made at strict control. I'm not in favour of protrusions from the backs of vehicles of any kind when they are not being used because I have had vehicles damaged by them. But you raise an interesting point because the current model Corsa can be fitted in production with an accessory slide-out bike carrier, and provision must be made for the number plate. So maybe your problem is self-inflicted by not using the manufacturer bike rack.
