Vauxhall Meriva steering problems

I'm thinking of buying a 2009 plate Meriva - was the power steering problem on this model ever resolved? Or are Vauxhall still replacing steering columns on these cars and is there an age limit at which they will not do so?

The problem was one of drivers holding the steering at full lock. While this is bad for an hydraulic PAS it is worse for EPAS because it burns out the steering motor.
