My Mazda CX-7's turbo has blown. Is this model susceptible to turbo problems?

Two months ago I purchased a 2-year-old Mazda CX-7 2.3T with 9500 miles on the clock. 4000 miles later the turbo has gone and is being replaced under warranty. I'm happy with that. However, I do have a couple of questions arising from this.

Research online suggests Mazda has a problem with the turbo generally and is well aware of this and has been for some time, so is the replacement going to last any longer? Also, as it appears this was a known problem with the model when I purchased it, do I have any grounds to reject it? Lastly, what are my rights with regards to a replacement vehicle whilst mine is off the road? The turbo is not in stock in the UK and may have to come from Japan. Currently I've been offered an Astra.

If the turbo has had to be replaced then usually the intercooler either needs cleaning of all the oil blown into it, or simply replacing. This is often not done, with the consequence that the turbo cannot work properly and burns out again.
