Does our Yaris have a steering fault?

My wife has a 2012 Toyota Yaris 1.33 CVT with 8000 miles on the clock. She has had it from new, but I have just started driving it and have noticed a couple of things.

1. when steering, not necessarily on full lock, but on at least one turn of the wheel, the car often seems to 'jump' or 'shuffle' at the front wheels when moving forwards or backwards at very slow speeds. Should this be a concern? It's on standard 15-inch alloys.

2. Filling the car up with petrol - unless the nozzle is in precisely the right place, it just clicks immediately - as if full. It is tricky to get it just right. It does this wherever I fill up, and I've have never had this issue on any of my own cars! Is there a reason for this?

1. You might not be used to driving a CVT. These are clutched, but once the clutch is engaged the gearing is continually variable. 2. Problem with the fuel tank breather. That needs attending to.
