Can I used home-stored diesel?

What is your opinion on home-stored diesel? Is it fine To use after say 12/18 months storage?

Diesel is relatively inert, but biodiesel is likely to separate and the moisture in it become globules, so needs to be strained before using or could block the fuel filter.
