Faulty Range Rover - should the dealer pay for the repairs?

I have a 2006 Range Rover Vogue, which has developed a problem with the ignition. If you remove the key you cannot get the key back into the ignition. The vehicle has now been at the supplying main dealer since August and the dealer tell me it's a manufacturing fault and they are awaiting a part.

They have offered to only charge 1/2 rate for their labour and said that I should contact Land Rover myself for any contribution from them. I think the dealer should sort this out as they sold the vehicle to me. Can you advise of what my rights are and if Land Rover should do the repair for free? The dealer has not even offered to supply a courtesy vehicle.

It wasn't on the list of Range Rover faults but it will be by the time you read this. The car is eight years old so you have no consumer rights against the dealer (unless you bought it within the last six months) and no rights against Jaguar Land Rover: www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/land-rover/range-rov...d
