New clutch has failed - do I claim against the shop or manufacturer?

I bought a clutch kit recently from a local parts shop. I had the clutch fitted by a local mechanic, but started to have problems almost immediately. After a few weeks I was unable to drive the car (unable to change gear) and had to take it to another garage, as the original mechanic was not available to check it.

The clutch release bearing had shattered (words of the mechanic at the garage). It also damaged the shaft that it fits onto and I am now hundreds of pounds out of pocket having paid for a clutch to be fitted twice, and for two mechanics to look at the problem. My question, do I claim from the parts shop the clutch was purchased from or the manufacturer of the clutch?

You can't claim from anyone because you don't know who was at fault. Might have been the clutch. Might have been the mechanic who fitted it. But you can't prove who. So let that be a lesson to get the parts sourced and fitted by the same person. Then you do have someone you can claim against.
