Why has my Golf's catalytic converter light come on?

The catalytic converter light on my Dad's 2011 Volkswagen Golf 1.6 TDI illuminated on 05/06/14, it was checked with a diagnostic device and was apparently something to do with the glow plugs so the person using the diagnostic just simply cleared the fault code and the warning light but tonight (07/06/14) it has reappeared.

What could the problem be as I thought if the cat light appeared it would indicate a fault with the cat, but apparently it's to do with the glow plugs. Any ideas?

You mean DPF light. Probably failing to regenerate because the car doesn't get driven far enough. Common with the 1.6TDI. Should have bought a 1.4TSI: www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/volkswagen/golf-vi-2...d
