Buying an Audi 2000 Audi A4 - good idea?

I’m looking at buying a Audi A4 from a local dealer, its a 2000 model and has 116,500 on the clock. The airbags need replacing as the car is now 14 years since manufacture, is this something that is compulsory?

Also, what are the likely servicing and maintenance costs should I expect from a car like this? There is a complete service record, should I follow up what parts have been changed? It’s valued at £1795 but I think I can haggle it down a bit!

Replacing the airbags of this car will cost more than it is worth. I've never heard of anyone ever bothering to do this. I don't think this car will prove to be a good buy.
