Can I dispute a parking ticket issued for parking slightly over the parking bay lines?

I visited St Ives in Cornwall last week. I entered a privately run car park (not council). The site was very busy. Only a relatively small space was free. Other cars had parked over the lines. I parked my car as near as possible to one of the cars but this meant my nearside wheels were over the line. I parked at 11.15 am and was given a ticket at 12.30. I returned to my car at 2.45 and saw the charge ticket for £100. I had paid for four hours. Obviously the adjacent cars had moved on before the warden struck. Any suggestions please?

It's outrageous moneygrabbing. But it is literally legalised robbery, legalised by a clause in the inaptly named ‘Protection of Freedoms Act’: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/private-parking-penalties/
