Which small car to replace my Fabia which doesn't have a DPF?

I am thinking of replacing my 89,000 mile 2004 Skoda Fabia 1.4 TDI with a similar car. I do about 9000 miles a year, mostly short runs. In view of your warnings about DPFs can you tell me at what point these were introduced so that I might be able to buy a good used one of low mileage. I am unlikely to buy a brand new car.

They became universal from January 2011, but most diesels that did not have them already acquired them during 2010. I think you'd probably be better off with a 1.2TSI 105 petrol.
